German engineers urge development of power-to-x capacities

The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) says power-to-x technologies are a 鈥渒ey element in reaching Germany鈥檚 and Europe鈥檚 energy policy goals,鈥 but need regulatory assistance and more research to exploit their full potential. In a press release, the engineers say the system of levies and taxes in Germany ought to be changed so that the production of synthetic fuels or gas can be included in companies鈥 emissions budgets to incentivise development of the technology. "It has the potential to make climate-friendly energy usable in sectors that cannot be directly electrified," said Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN 麻豆无码版 Solutions and chairman of a new VDMA working group called "Power-to-X for Applications鈥.
