    (Pariser Klimaschutzabkommen) The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) took place in Paris in December 2015. It resulted in a global agreement to keep warming well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels – or ideally to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels. Each nation was responsible for submitting its own Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) ahead of the conference, outlining the steps it would take to curb its emissions.
