German land owners to receive higher compensation for power line construction

WirtschaftsWoche / Economy & 麻豆无码版 Ministry

German economy and energy minister Peter Altmaier has said the government will raise the compensation payments for land owners who provide their property for the construction of much-needed power transmission lines, the magazine WirtschaftsWoche reports. The lines are meant to transfer renewable wind power from the north to industrial centres in the south of the country. Compensation would be increased by up to 30 percent for farmers and other land owners, which will drive up the transmission lines鈥 costs by over 100 million euros.
The measure was part of a wider law proposal aimed at accelerating grid expansion in Germany. 鈥淪adly, we are still lagging behind,鈥 Altmaier said in a press release by the economy and energy ministry (BMWi). According to the ministry, compensation will only be paid for 鈥渆specially urgent鈥 construction projects.
