FDP chief negotiator: Jamaica coalition āmore than just emergency solutionā
A German government formed of a so-called Jamaica coalition could be more than just an āemergency solutionā, FDP chief negotiator Marco Buschmann said in an interview with Frankfurter Rundschau. If the parties found a compromise on contested policy issues, such as climate, energy, migration or finance, āthis government could be a coalition for modernisation that achieves more progress for the country than the previous coalitionā, Buschmann said. The pro-business partyās chief negotiator said the FDP was ready to āreduce coal-fired power production as much as possible as long as energy prices remain stable and supply security is not threatenedā. The future of coal power in Germany had been a major source of contention between the FDP and its negotiating partners from the Green Party and Chancellor Angela Merkelās conservative CDU/CSU alliance.
