German car industry ponders autonomous driving mega alliance
Manager Magazin
Germany鈥檚 carmakers VW, BMW and Daimler, and suppliers such as Bosch and Continental, are in talks over forming a 鈥渕ega alliance鈥 on autonomous driving, reports Michael Freitag in an article for Manager Magazin []. Until now, media reports had mentioned two alliances, one between BMW and Daimler, and another collaboration between VW and Ford. The heads of the companies involved want to decide about a possible alliance by March, writes Freitag. Until then, working groups would hatch out the details. Autonomous driving is considered among the most serious challenges for established carmakers, alongside electrification and new mobility services. [.]
