Germany鈥檚 regional power consumption patterns vary greatly

Check24

Power consumption in Germany can differ substantially from region to region, price comparison website Check24 said in a press release. 鈥淔amilies from the Saarland consume 25 percent more power than families from Saxony,鈥 the website says, adding that power consumption in eastern Germany generally was nine percent lower than in the country鈥檚 western part. This could be due to the fact that average power costs in the east are higher while at the same time typical apartments are smaller, the press release says. A German household with four people on average consumed 4,634 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity in the past 12 months, according to Check24.
